We are delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with Aspens, a home-from-home catering company that shares our values and commitment to nourishing young minds and bodies. Aspens continues to work closely with Newlyn School and our School Council for 2026-2027 to ensure that every meal is not only nutritious but also enjoyable, inclusive and shaped by pupil voice.
Over the past year, this partnership has enabled us to provide high-quality meals, introduce a wide variety of menu options and continue developing a positive dining experience for our pupils. We look forward to building on this success throughout the coming year.
The menus are inspired by cuisine from around the world, offering children a chance to explore new flavours and cultures while enjoying balanced, wholesome meals. From comforting classics to exciting international dishes, there’s something for everyone. We are proud to work alongside Aspens to deliver meals the Newlyn Way—with care, creativity, and community at the heart of everything we do.
We are also thrilled to let you know that Rachel will remain as our school cook. Rachel has been a cherished part of our school community, and she is excited to continue developing her love of food with the Aspens team. Together, they will ensure that every meal aligns with our school values—and, of course, with the tummies of Newlyn children!
Newlyn School has adopted a hybrid model for our catering provision. This means that while we proudly partner with Aspens for their expertise and support, our kitchen remains the property of Newlyn School. This approach allows us to retain our unique identity and ethos while benefiting from the resources and experience of a larger organisation. It truly is the best of both worlds.
Working with a larger company like Aspens brings a number of advantages to our school community. Their scale allows for greater efficiencies in food pricing, enabling us to increase our expenditure on ingredients and invest more into the quality of meals for our children. Aspens are committed to sourcing the very best produce from trusted local suppliers, ensuring freshness, sustainability, and competitive pricing—all of which support our local economy and enhance the dining experience for our pupils.
