🚀What should I expect in Year 6? 🚀

Welcome to Year 6, the biggest and most exciting year of primary school! This is a milestone year where your child truly becomes a leader in the school. As the oldest students, we take on fantastic new responsibilities, from important roles across the school to becoming positive Play Leaders and role models for everyone else. We show the whole school what it means to be brilliant learners and kind, thoughtful citizens.

🧠 Learning & The Year 6 Advantage Project

Get ready for an action-packed academic year! We're diving into some challenging and super-interesting topics in all subjects. We’ll be working hard to prepare for the end-of-year Key Stage 2 SATs, but we’ll approach this challenge with confidence and a positive attitude, making sure every child achieves their personal best.

A huge boost to our learning is from the Truro and Penwith Academy Trust's   Advantage Project! Every child is given their own iPad to use throughout the year. This amazing tool enhances and transforms our learning, encouraging creativity and modern skills. 🗺️ Adventures, Trips, and Memories

Year 6 is also about making those unforgettable primary school memories!

  • Exciting Day Trips: We have some fun and enriching day trips planned that will bring our classroom lessons to life and give us new experiences.

  • The Residential Trip: This is often the highlight of Year 6! Our residential adventure is a wonderful opportunity for independence, teamwork, new challenges, and incredible fun with friends before they move on to secondary school.

Year 6 is a wonderful blend of challenge, responsibility, and fun. We are excited to guide your child through this special final chapter!

Year 6 Wales Residential to Aberdovey!

We're absolutely thrilled to be taking Bostalek Class (Year 6) to Outward Bound in Aberdovey again during Summer Term 1 (2027)! This residential trip is an incredible experience that goes far beyond the classroom, specialising in helping Year 6 students successfully transition to secondary school. Aberdovey's stunning coastal and mountain environment offers unique challenges designed to boost confidence, develop essential teamwork and leadership skills, and cultivate resilience. By tackling activities like gorge walking and kayaking in a supportive but demanding setting, children learn to push their personal boundaries, build strong friendships, and understand the value of encouraging others—all while creating unforgettable memories in the incredible landscape of Wales.

IThis term, Bostalek Class is engaging in a highly varied curriculum, balancing core academic work with hands-on learning, cultural studies, and practical skills development.

Core Academics 🧠

  • Maths: Students are strengthening their mastery of the four fundamental operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) before moving on to the complex topic of fractions (equivalents, ordering, and operations).

  • Novel Study / English: The class is reading the novel Holes, which will serve as the primary source and inspiration for all their creative writing projects in English this term.

  • Science: The class is learning about Light, focusing on how it travels, shadows, and reflection.

Creative & Practical Studies 💡🎨

  • DT (Design & Technology): Students are applying their Science knowledge by creating lanterns in connection to their learning about light.
