Speech and Language Support at Newlyn School
At Newlyn School, we know that strong communication skills are the foundation for learning, friendships, and confidence. To help every child develop these skills, we use the Speech and Language Link programme.
What is Speech and Language Link?
Speech and Language Link is a specialist tool that helps us identify children who may need extra support with talking, listening, and understanding. It also provides fun, practical activities to help children improve their communication skills.
How does it help your child?
- Early Identification: We screen children to spot any speech or language difficulties quickly.
- Targeted Support: If your child needs help, we create a personalised plan with activities to build vocabulary, understanding, and confidence.
- Classroom Strategies: Teachers use simple techniques to make learning easier for all children.
Why is this important?
Good communication skills help children succeed in school and feel happy and confident. By supporting speech and language early, we give every child the best chance to thrive.
How can parents help?
You play a big role! Talking, reading, and listening together at home makes a huge difference. We’ll share tips and resources so you can support your child’s progress.
