Anti Racism Charter
Anti Racism @ Newlyn
At Newlyn School, Everyone Belongs
At Newlyn School, we are proud of who we are and where we come from. We celebrate the different backgrounds, cultures, languages, beliefs and experiences that make our school special.
We believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, respected and included.
Racism has no place in our school.
Through our ongoing work aligned with Black Voices Cornwall, we learn about fairness, equality, diverse histories and how we can stand up for one another. We know that learning about different people and cultures helps us become kinder, more respectful citizens.
We Promise To:
Respect Everyone
- Treat all people with kindness and dignity.
- Use respectful words and actions.
- Celebrate our differences and our similarities.
Speak Up
- Challenge racist language or behaviour safely.
- Tell a trusted adult if we hear or see racism.
- Support people who may feel hurt or excluded.
Learn Together
- Learn about different cultures, histories and communities.
- Listen to other people's experiences and perspectives.
- Be curious and ask respectful questions.
Include Everyone
- Make sure everyone feels welcome in our games, activities and learning.
- Value everyone's voice and contribution.
- Help create a school where everyone belongs.
Be Proud Upstanders
- Stand up for fairness and equality.
- Show courage when something is not right.
- Help make positive changes in our school and community.
What We Believe
We believe:
- Every person is important.
- Everyone has the right to be treated fairly.
- Our differences make us stronger.
- Kindness, respect and understanding help us build a better future.
