Newlyn Fish Festival

29th August 2016

The sun shone on the Newlyn Fish Festival and it turned out to be another super day. Newlyn School's stall, which gave out the free gifts to children who completed the 'Fishy Trail', was a great success. There were many parents praising the Fishy Trail and the fun they had looking for the clues. Thank you to Vivienne, Rachel and Adrian Chivers who ran the stall and ensured that all who visited us went away with a prize and a smile on their faces.

Sanjay, from the award winning School of Cornish Sardines, once again had the assistance of some of Newlyn School's pupils to cook a tasty dish on the kitchen demonstration stand. Isla and Rose will make fantastic chefs and were super representatives for our school. They were joined on stage by other notable people from the fish and cheffing world, Matt Slater from Cornwall Wildlife, Annie Sibbert from My Fish Kitchen and Dan the fish merchant and chef from Devon. They cooked a tasty crab pancake dish using some unusual ingredients (I will post the recipe as soon as I receive it). It turned out to be a fun and entertaining set and one that the audience fully enjoyed. Well done Isla and Rose.
